Police called to reports of man with gun at Bury school

Police have been called to Bury after reports of a man with a gun in the area.

Officers were sent to Bury Catholic Preparatory School just after 2.30pm today.

No injuries were reported but police maintained a presence at the school into the evening.

A search is ongoing for the man in question.

The Bolton News:

Councillor Tammor Tariq, of the Redvales Ward ward, posted on social media: "The police have received reports of a man with a firearm around Manchester Road.

"Hence police presence outside Bury Catholic Prep School and Holy Cross College.

"Please be alert and report anything that you may deem to be suspicious."

A GMP spokesperson said: "Police were called around 2.35pm on Tuesday 2 November to a school on Manchester Road, Bury to a report of a male with a potential firearm.

"Officers were swiftly deployed and enquiries are ongoing to locate the male who left the scene."
