Bolton Wanderers defender Adam Senior joins Ashton United on loan

WANDERERS defender Adam Senior has joined non-league Ashton United on a month-long youth loan.

The 19-year-old has made five first-team appearances for the Whites and was regularly involved in pre-season, scoring the decisive goal in a 1-0 win at Chorley.

However, Senior is yet to feature this season and heads to the Northern Premier League top-flight in search of opportunities to further his experience.

The defender now links up with former Wanderers star Nicky Hunt, who is part of the Robins’ coaching staff.

Senior could make his debut on Saturday afternoon when the Robins welcome Warrington Town to the Hurst Cross Stadium (KO 3pm).

They sit 20th in the league table after picking up eight points from their opening 10 league fixtures.

Speaking after the win at Chorley, Wanderers boss Ian Evatt said: “(Senior) was absolutely brilliant and him more than most young players have really come on this pre-season. He’s developed no end.

"He’s starting to understand his body and he’s a different type of centre-back. He isn’t a big, dominant Rico (Santos) type, but he’s more of an Alex Baptiste type and he needs to watch Alex and obviously Sam (Hird) and Peter (Atherton), who were fantastic centre backs who were not very big.

"It’s about hiding your deficiencies and playing to your strengths and I think Seens is really doing that at the moment.”
