Covid rates in Bolton continue to rise
The coronavirus infection rate in the borough is continuing to rise.
The number of cases in the town had been falling for a number of weeks through late July and early August
However, rates across much of the Greater Manchester region appear to be rising again.
Bolton is still recording the lowest infection rate in the region.
This is after Bolton was the first borough to see a spike in cases due to the spread of the Delta variant in May.
Surge testing and vaccination was brought in to bring this under control with the town's infection rate dropping rapidly after this.
This had continued to fall for a long time, until this latest rise in cases seen towards the end of this week.
In the seven days to August 12 Bolton recorded 641 new positive cases of Covid-19, equalling an infection rate of 222.4 new cases per 100,000 residents.
This is an increase from the previous seven days, to August 5, where the town recorded 541 new cases at a rate of 178.7 per 100,000 residents.

Rochdale, Bury, Oldham and Manchester have all seen their cases decrease in the latest round of figures.
Today was the first day that 16 and 17-year-olds could receive their vaccine in Bolton.
Bolton is the first area in the country to offer vaccines to under-18s, with the government planning on briniging it in across England from the end of this week.
